These adventures are set in 9 Century Britain, with the whole land under threat from the Viking Horde. The series will follow the adventures and deeds of Uhtred a young boy orphand in a Viking raid.

The first book 'The Last Kingdom' is a real corker. It has been a while since I have read such a good book.The series has slightly tailed off in later books but Cornwell is still an enjoyable read.

It was announced in November 2014 that the first book of the series is to be turned into a TV series - called The Last Kingdom.
